On the third day of a rolling strike by Santa Clara County union employees, two health clinics have been shut down.
As staff members entered the picket line today outside county health facilities in East San Jose and Gilroy, the impact on public services appeared similar to Thursday, when two different health clinics were closed.
Outpatient health clinics at the county’s East Valley Health Clinic and Gilroy Clinic were closed this morning due to the strike, as well as Women, Infants and Children — known as WIC — Services at the two sites. Many appointments and primary care visits that were set for Friday are also being rescheduled due to the lack of staff.
Walk-in patients are being seen and adult and pediatric urgent care are still open at the East Valley Health Clinic. And in Gilroy, staff will still see pediatric and urgent obstetrics patients, as well as scheduled adult patients. South County residents in need of outpatient services are being rerouted to St. Louise and DePaul Urgent Care, according to county officials.
