WOODSIDE — Firefighters have extinguished a roughly three-acre fire in the hills of Woodside that sparked Sunday morning, officials said.

Crews had stopped the forward progress of the fire in the wooded Huddart Park area, but firefighters will be at the scene for at least the next 24 hours “due to extremely heavy ground fuels,” Cal Fire said in a tweet Sunday around 9:40 a.m.

A little after 10 a.m., Cal Fire said crews were mopping up the area.

Smoke from the fire was visible in the Redwood City area along Interstate 280, Cal Fire said.

Huddart Park was closed Sunday as a precaution because of the fire, according to the San Mateo County Parks Twitter account.

One firefighter was slightly injured while battling the blaze. No other people were injured by the fire, and no structures were damaged.

Huddart Park and Kings Mountain roads at Patrol Road and Skyline Boulevard will be closed all night, due to the fire, according to the Woodside Fire Protection District.
