OAKLAND — Three people were taken into custody early Monday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on peace officers after allegedly shooting at the department’s headquarters, authorities said.
Soon after the shooting happened in the 400 block of 7th Street just west of Broadway a little after midnight Monday, the vehicle used in the shooting fled north and the occupants jumped out and ran inside an apartment building near 18th and San Pablo Avenue where they were captured.
No officers were injured, police said, and investigators recovered shell casings on Broadway close by the scene.
The shooting added to a fearful climate in the wake of late Friday’s drive-by shooting outside Oakland’s federal building that claimed a security guard’s life and left another injured.
No other details were available early Monday. Check back for updates.
