It’s another great week for live music in the Bay Area, highlighted by a couple of really hot hip-hop shows, the return of a pop music genius and an intriguing new festival.
Kings of the West
Here’s your chance to see two of the most popular rappers of all time – Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube – on Sept. 14 at the SAP Center at San Jose. The bill also features the Bay Area’s own E-40, West Coast hip-hop pioneer Warren G and acclaimed L.A. outfit Psycho Realm.
The show is part the SAP Center 25 Festival Weekend, a three-day celebration of the venue’s 25th anniversary that runs Sept. 13-15.

Brian Wilson, Zombies
Wilson focuses on two oft-ignored Beach Boys gems — “Friends” and “Surf’s UP” — during his set at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Sept. 13. He’ll be joined onstage by fellow Beach Boys members Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin. The Something Great From ’68 Tour also features the Zombies, the recent inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who will be performing 1968’s “Odessey and Oracle” album in its entirety, plus other material.

Lights On Festival
The daylong show is curated by H.E.R., the Vallejo R&B artist whose career has been absolutely skyrocketing over the last couple of years.
Joining the Grammy-winning artist on the bill are Jhené Aiko, Daniel Ceasar, Summer Walker, Ari Lennox, Kiana Ledé, DaniLeigh, Lucky Daye, Melii, Tone Stith, LONR, Marc E. Bassy, bLAck pARty and Rayana Jay on Sept. 14 at Concord Pavilion.

Maluma
The Colombian singer-songwriter-rapper, known for such top 10 smashes as “Felices los 4,” “Borró Cassette,” “El Perdedor” and “Corazón,” performs Sept. 15 as part of the SAP Center Festival Weekend.
