Here’s a look at some of the top country music shows happening the Bay Area this fall:
Eric Church
He might just be the best reason to listen to mainstream country music today — a artist of vision, conviction and immense talent, sharing far more in common with such legends as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings than with most of the cookie-cutter cowboys found on the charts today.
So, in other words, don’t miss Church when he performs Sept. 28 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. He also visits the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on Nov. 22-23.
Details: 8 p.m.; $29-$149 (S.F.), $25-$149 (Sacramento), www.ticketmaster.com
Blake Shelton
The country crooner recently notched yet another No. 1 hit, “God’s Country,” which follows such former chart-toppers as “I’ll Name the Dogs,” “Came Here to Forget,” “Sangria,” “Mine Would Be You” and “Boys ‘Round Here.”
Shelton, who is also known for being a judge on TV’s “The Voice” as well as for dating co-star Gwen Stefani, performs Sept. 13 at the SAP Center at San Jose.
It’s part of the SAP Center 25 Festival Weekend, a three-day celebration of the venue’s 25th anniversary that runs Sept. 13-15.
Hunter Hayes and Devin Dawson are also on the bill.
Details: 8 p.m.; $49-$199, www.ticketmaster.com
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass
Sure, it’s not a full-on country music event. But it does feature a number of amazingly talented country musicians, including Margo Price, Emmylou Harris and – oh, wow – Tanya Tucker.
Plus, you also get to see other big talents like Robert Plant, the Waterboys and Sierra Hull during the three-day festival, Oct. 4-6, at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
And the price (free) most definitely is right.
Details: Music starts at noon Oct. 4, 11 a.m. Oct. 5-6; free admission, hardlystrictlybluegrass.com
Zac Brown Band
The Georgia act is easily twice as good in concert as it is on disc, delivering the type of fun-filled shows that thrill both longtime fans and newcomers. The group has a stack of its own hits, but it also is known to throw in a few cool covers (like the Charlie Daniels Band’s “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”).
The Zac Brown Band performs Sept. 20 at Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View. Caroline Jones is also on the bill.
Details: 7 p.m.; $40-$108, www.livenation.com
Florida Georgia Line
The country act visits Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View on Sept. 27 in support of its latest chart-topper, this year’s “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country.”
Dan + Shay, Morgan Wallen and Canaan Smith are also on the bill.
The tour also stops Sept. 26 at Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland.
Details: 7 p.m.; $39.25-$109 (Toyota), $40.25-$110 (Shoreline), www.livenation.com
