Serina Wolfe of Buffalo, New York made headlines when she left a $5,000 tip for a server grieving the loss of her dog in Clearwater, Florida earlier this week.
Now officers have accused Wolfe of using a credit card in her boyfriend’s name to leave the tip at Clear Sky Cafe and get back at him for not buying her a plane ticket home to New York when they were fighting. Wolfe denied making the purchase, which her boyfriend reported as fraudulent to the credit card company, according to WFTS-TV, an ABC-affiliated news station in Tampa, Florida.
But Wolfe later voluntarily handed over the card she used to authorities, who said she admitted it was the same card used to make the purchase and leave the tip. She faces a grand theft charge, according to an arrest affidavit.
The cafe has already paid out their waitress for the amount of $5,000 for the tip and $55.37 for the food Wolfe ordered.
Still unclear is whether or not the server will get to keep the money.
