Here we are, chicken fiends: The fowl four in our best fried-chicken sandwich competition.

Two weeks ago, we asked readers to help us choose the Bay Area’s tastiest sammies, bracket-style. You delivered, narrowing down 16 selections to the Elite Eight.

And now, the results of the Fowl Four have come in, and there were a few landslide victories. In a stunning upset, Berkeley’s Pinky & Red’s blew away Oakland’s Bakesale Betty’s by nearly double the votes.

Paper Plane, the downtown San Jose cocktail bar, beat out The Counter in Walnut Creek and San Jose, while the South Bay’s Starbird bested San Ramon’s Plucked Chicken & Beer. And two San Francisco eateries — The Bird and Split — went beak to beak, with The Bird emerging victorious.

So, where do we go from here? Down to your top two, chicken fanatics. Cast your votes now. Don’t forget to use Firefox or Safari as your browser and be sure to click the “done” button when you’re finished to submit your votes. Weigh in on the brackets below from now until Monday at noon. We’ll unveil the Top Two on Tuesday morning.
