OAKLAND — A 66-year-old man was in critical condition after he was hit by a car Wednesday night while crossing a West Oakland street, police said Thursday.
His name has not been released.
The collision happened about 9:42 p.m. Wednesday in the 3200 block of San Pablo Avenue.
Police said the man, an Oakland resident, was crossing San Pablo Avenue westbound in an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection of Filbert Street when he was hit by a Honda Accord that was going southbound on San Pablo.
The man suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a hospital.
The Honda driver, identified by police as a 52-year-old Oakland man, was not injured. He remained at the scene and was cooperating with police traffic investigators.
Police said it is not yet known if if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
