Five people — two pedestrians, two drivers and a motorcyclist — were killed in traffic collisions over the weekend in the Bay Area, and four other accidents caused major injuries.

The map above shows the locations of the incidents, from Friday afternoon to Sunday night. In the list below, the fatal accidents are indicated by bold type. Click on each link for the full articles.

  1. San Jose, Friday at 4:35 p.m.: A 24-year-old man was killed when his car hit a tree on Tully Road near Quimby Road.
  2. Richmond, Friday around 5 p.m.: A 4-year-old boy was fatally struck on the street in front of his home, by a car whose driver then fled. The suspect turned himself in to police on Saturday evening.
  3. Fremont, Friday at 6:23 p.m.: A 55-year-old pedestrian suffered major injuries when he was struck by a car whose driver then fled.
  4. Santa Clara, Saturday at 4:40 p.m.: A pedestrian, described as an elderly woman, suffered “significant” injuries when she was struck while crossing Cabrillo Avenue near Calabazas Boulevard. The driver remained on the scene.
  5. Oakland, Saturday around 9:30 p.m.: A 24-year-old Oakland man was killed and a woman injured when the cars they were driving collided at Hegenberger Road and Hamilton Street.
  6. Fremont, Sunday around 2 a.m.: A 16-year-old driver fleeing police struck another car at  Mowry Avenue and Farwell Drive. The teen and the other driver suffered major injuries.
  7.  Pittsburg, Sunday around 2 a.m.: A 29-year-old Antioch man was killed when his motorcycle and two cars crashed on eastbound Highway 4 near Bailey Road. One car’s driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
  8. San Francisco, Sunday at 3:15 a.m.: A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck while crossing 19th Avenue near Junipero Serra Boulevard. The driver remained on the scene.
  9. South San Francisco, Sunday at 9:30 p.m.: A pedestrian walking in the traffic lanes of northbound Highway 101 near Grand Avenue died after being struck by at least one car.
