The Rolling Stones have postponed their highly anticipated North American tour due to front man Mick Jagger’s health.
The Stones were set to play Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the home of the San Francisco 49ers, on May 18. But it now appears that local fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Jagger and crew rock ‘n’ roll through such favorites as “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Start Me Up” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
The announcement was relayed on the Stones’ website:
“Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming U.S. / Canada tour dates — we apologise for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly,” a statement read.
The announcement said the reason for the postponement was Jagger’s health, but did not specify what is ailing the 75-year-old Englishman.
“Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible,” the statement read.
The statement also included a quote from Jagger, apologizing to fans for having to postpone.
“I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone,” Jagger said.
According to a message on the Levi’s Stadium website: “Our promoters AEG Presents / Concerts West advise people who have tickets to attend these shows to hold onto their existing tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates.”
