EAST BAY

Children’s Support League grants $190K to nonprofits

Children’s Support League of the East Bay (CSL) has released the list of local agencies that are receiving grants from the proceeds of CSL’s 31st annual Heart of the Home Tour in April this year. CSL’s grants go exclusively to nonprofits that help at-risk children in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

“We are thrilled to be able to grant $190,000 to 21 agencies,” said Elizabeth Adams, CSL’s tour co- chair. “We are grateful to everyone in our community who supported CSL’s 31st annual Tour.”

“We especially want to thank those who graciously opened up their homes for the tour, as well as our underwriters and donors,” said fellow CSL’s tour co- chair Jan Howland.

With the 2019 grants, CSL has donated more than $4 million to support at-risk children in the 31 years it has been raising funds through the annual Heart of the Home Tour. A complete list of the 2019 grantees and the work they do with children in the community can be found on the CSL website at ChildrensSupportLeague.org.

One of the agencies that received a grant from CSL this year is Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAPkids.org), an adaptive aquatic program for children with significant physical and/or developmental challenges.

“Community programs are limited for children with life altering health and developmental conditions.  SNAP provides acceptance and inclusion,” says Dori Maxon, SNAP’s executive director and founder. “With CSL’s help, our beautiful swimmers with special needs can participate regardless of ability to pay and can continue to feel the freedom of the water, and experience the joys of childhood.”

CSL is already planning for next year’s Heart of the Home Tour, which will be held the last weekend in April 2020. Membership is open and volunteers are always welcome. Those interested are encouraged to write to info@ChildrensSupportLeague.org or call 510-338-4521.
