In general, invasions aren’t a good thing. But when it’s 37 Boston terriers coming to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco, it’s fabulous.

Muttville, which specializes in taking older dogs — at least 7 years old — accepted the dogs from a hoarding case and a rescue that closed its doors.

The first bunch of Boston terriers arrived June 17, and a second group is expected June 24; in all, a total of 37 bundles of of cuteness and joy are looking for forever homes.

To get the adoptions rolling, Muttville will throw a Boston Tea Party adoption weekend, noon to 4 p.m. June 29 and June 30, at Muttville headquarters

The rescue of that many of the same breed of dog is unusual, but Mutt Manager Jennifer Coudron says Muttville workers are confident all the dogs will find good homes.

“As a rescue, Muttville wanted to help another shelter because they were so overwhelmed, and we feel that we can find homes for these senior Boston terriers in the Bay Area,” Coudron says. “People love Bostons, and it’s all about these dogs deserving a new beginning.”

Muttville also is looking for more foster homes for these and other dogs. Contact the group for information on adoption and volunteering.

“As we are foster based,” Coudron says, “we will need more foster homes than we normally have for these sweet seniors. And of course, forever homes are needed, too.”
