Several Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are coming together at the Pathway to Paris benefit concert on Sept. 14 at San Francisco’s Masonic.
The lineup includes the sensational Patti Smith (Rock Hall class of 2007), the Bay Area’s own Bob Weir (inducted with the Grateful Dead in 1994), genius bassist Flea (enshrined as a Red Hot Chili Pepper in 2012) and Eric Burden (inducted with the Animals in 1994), among others.
It’s one in a series of Pathway to Paris events and concerts that have been held in numerous cities, intended as “a call to action, urging the international community to ramp up ambition towards a climate-safe future for all,” according to a news release.
The title of the concert references the Paris Agreement, a response to the threat of global warming that came out of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) of 2015.
Pathway to Paris was founded by Rebecca Foon and Jesse Paris Smith (who is the daughter of Patti Smith).
Proceeds from the event go to 350.org, Pathway to Paris and the United Nations Development Programme.
