Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s 15-month marriage was known to be volatile, but the April 2016 incident that finally torpedoed the relationship was a pile of poop that was found in their marital bed, according to new report from the U.K. Mirror.

The troubled “Pirates of the Caribbean” star accused Heard of dumping the feces as revenge for his being two hours late to her 30th birthday party in April 2016, the Mirror said.

But Heard denied the poop accusation — and continues to deny it in a statement to the Mirror — blaming the deposit on the couple’s Yorkshire terrier Boo, who had bowel problems.

The excrement was discovered by a housekeeper the morning after the couple had yet another of their explosive arguments, and the 54-year-old actor stormed out of their Los Angeles penthouse.

The housekeeper thought the poop was too large to be from a small dog — that it appeared to come from a human, the Mirror said. Moreover, a source close to the 55-year-old actor told the Mirror that there was “strong, photographic evidence that connected Amber to the feces.” The source said the feces was left as a “prank.”

A representative for Heard said to the Mirror: “There never was a joke. It wasn’t something done to be disrespectful.”

The representative added, “It was an innocent thing, it’s what pets will do. We don’t have anything else to say. Ms. Heard is moving on and we do not want to engage in this nonsense.”

Heard appeared to refer to the poop accusation when she filed for divorce on May 23, 2016, two days after another fight between the couple, according to the Mirror and to Entertainment Tonight.

In a request for a temporary restraining order in her divorce filing, she claimed that on the night of May 21, 2016 Depp began “obsessing about something that was untrue and his demeanor changed dramatically.”

According to Heard, the two were having a “peaceful conversation” about the death of Depp’s mother but he began to make “paranoid and irrational accusations about some delusional idea.” They began to argue and the argument turned violent, she said, when Depp threw his cell phone at her, striking her in the cheek. He then pulled her hair, stuck her and “violently” grabbed her face, she claimed.

Depp has long denied he physically abused Heard. In fact, he has alleged that Heard was the violent one during their marriage in a lawsuit he recently filed against the Sun, another U.K. tabloid, which labeled him a “wife beater.”

Depp’s reputation has taken a number of hits in the past two years over Heard’s domestic violence allegations, as well as reports about bad on-set behavior, heavy drinking and extravagant spending. The domestic violence allegations led to fan backlash over his casting in the Harry Potter franchise spin-off “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” which is due in theaters in November.

Depp didn’t respond to the Mirror’s request for comment about the dispute over the poop left in the bed.

But there could be something to the idea that the couple’s dogs had become a serious source of conflict between them.

Four days before the birthday fight, Depp and Heard released an awkward, much-mocked video in response to their legal troubles with the government of Australia, Entertainment Tonight reported. The legal troubles stemmed from them being caught smuggling Boo and another Yorkshire terrier, Pistol, in that country,

In 2015, Australian officials became aware that Boo and Pistol had failed to go through customs and undergo the country’s required 10-day quarantine when the couple flew by private plane into Australia, where Depp was working on the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, ET reported. Apparently, the crime of smuggling an animal into Australia comes with a 10-day jail sentence.

To settle the case, the couple recorded the video in which Heard said in a stilted voice: “Australia is a wonderful island with a treasure trove of unique plants, animals and people.”

“It has to be protected,” Depp added stiffly.
