Emmylou Harris, one of country music’s greatest artists, is lending a hand to help out some needy pooches.
And you can help out too, simply by watching Harris perform in concert.
Harris headlines the 2018 Bummer’s Ball, the second annual fundraiser for Rocket Dog Rescue on Oct. 6 at the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco. The fundraiser also features circus performers, tarot card readers, cocktails, food, a silent auction and more.
“We are thrilled to be hosting our 2nd Bummer’s Ball with the amazing Emmylou Harris,” said Pali Boucher, founder and executive director of Rocket Dog Rescue. “Last year’s inaugural Bummer’s Ball raised more than $25,000 that went directly to help save hundreds of dogs and get them placed in loving homes. We are so grateful to the artists and community that support our efforts.”
Boucher started the organization in 2001 to rescue homeless/abandoned dogs from euthanasia in crowded animal shelters in the Greater Bay Area. To date, Rocket Dog has provided 10,000-plus canines with temporary/permanent homes.
Harris is one of the country music genre’s most accomplished artists and has released over 25 albums, including such gold-certified efforts as “Elite Hotel,” “Luxury Liner” and “Roses in the Snow.”
Harris also performs Oct. 7 at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco (www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com).
