Angelina is still reeling from how close she came to getting voted off at last week’s Tribal Council. She admits she tried a little jury management with Elizabeth, but she tries to convince her fellow Goliaths that tipping Elizabeth off about her pending torch snuffing was purely a moment of weakness and not strategy.
Every one is completely convinced … that she’s lying her cheeks off.
Mike and Christian have a heart-to-heart about their Strike Force Alliance, which is made up of three Goliaths and three Davids. Mike is uncertain about Gabby, who got emotional at Tribal Council. He thinks there may be a secret David alliance working behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, Davie and Nick go looking for hidden idols. They find a clue, then Carl joins them on the search. While Davie creates a distraction, putting down some moves, Carl and Nick dig for the idol and find it. It gives the holder a second vote.
Carl confesses that he has a hidden advantage, and while Davie has a hidden immunity idol, he continues to keep his a secret.
Reward Challenge
The 12 players are divided into two teams — Gabby, Christian, Alison, John, Alec and Nick (orange); Mike, Carl, Kara, Davie, Dan and Angelina (purple).
Team members hold aloft 10-pound sand bags, with a total of 80 pounds spread among six players. If anyone drops a bag, a trough dumps water on them. Every 15 minutes, one person from each team has to leave and the others must take over his or her bags.
The orange team wins — a pizza party — when Dan gets cocky and starts taunting the other team, dropping one of his three bags in the process.
While the winners take their pizza to a secluded spot to chow down, the losing players hang out at camp. Mike’s paranoia is running strong and he talks to Alec about blowing up the Strike Force Alliance and going back to Goliath Strong. He wants to take out Christian.
The Goliaths meet and everyone is good with getting rid of Christian, but Angelina is upset because that was her plan last Tribal Council and no one listened to her. Whenever a woman has had a plan, she says, no one listens until a man says it.
She’s on board, but a little worried because the plan is to tell the Davids the Golaiths are voting off Angelina. It makes sense, but Angelina is worried that if a hidden immunity idol is played, blocking all the votes for Christian, she’ll be voted out.
Immunity Challenge
In this contest, players balance on a narrow ledge while holding a buoy ball between two batons. Fall off the perch or drop the buoy and you’re out.
Kara is the first one out, followed in quick order by Christian, Alison, Davie, John, Gabby, Carl, Alec, Mike and Nick, leaving Angelina and Dan battling it out for immunity.
Angelina finally loses control of her buoy and Dan is victorious.
Mike hopes the Goliaths can hold their egos in check and follow through with the plan to get rid of Christian, this season’s best liked player. Mike says people watching from home are probably wondering why they hadn’t voted him out before now, but here’s a friendly tip — don’t mention that to Angelina.
John explains the plan to the camera, saying it will be an easy vote although he feels bad about getting rid of Christian, an honorary Brochacha. He predicts there will be a #Brochachablindside tonight.
Angelina continues to worry about having her name bandied about. Dan tells her to stop fretting. She messed up and now they have to put her name out there, but if an idol is played, he’ll play one to protect her. He lies that he doesn’t want to see Angelina go home.
Alec doesn’t feel right about voting off Christian and not telling Nick about it. So he does, stopping short of telling him the plan. Nick talks to Christian and tells him he’ll figure out something. He goes to Davie and asks him about playing the steal-a-vote advantage to save Christian.
Davie doesn’t think the steal-a-vote will work, but his immunity idol will — but no one knows about it and he might need it himself in the future. Nick is worried that if he plays the steal-a-vote that he’ll put a big target on his back for the future.
Tribal Council
Jeff Probst asks what happened after the last Tribal Council. Angelina says she explained to each member of the Goliath alliance what happened, and she hopes they all understood. With Elizabeth sitting on the jury, Angelina wisely doesn’t repeat the lie of innocence.
Mike says the Davids will have a say in the vote, but Carl says he doesn’t buy it. The Goliaths have the numbers and they aren’t likely to vote out one of their own. Nick says he’s loyal now and always. John says he wants to get rid of the weakest links.
Christian says he is seen at a threat, but he’s hoping the bonds he’s made with the Davids and Goliaths will see him through. That makes him an even bigger threat, Angelina says.
The players vote but before the votes are read out, Davie pops up and, to the shock of everyone, plays his secret hidden idol for Christian, apologizing that he’d kept it a secret. Angelina turns to Dan and says they have to play his idol. She begs him, and he reluctantly plays it for Angelina.
Probst reads the votes. Seven go to Christian and two to Angelina, but as none of them count, who’s going home? John. What? Yes, you heard right. John. From out of nowhere. The Davids are happy, but the Goliaths are stunned, except for Angelina, who’s just happy she dodged a bullet.
John was right about the Brochacha blindside — just wrong about the victim.
Next time: Kara needs to separate herself from Dan, Gabby urges Goliaths to come over to the light side, and there are major trust issues.
