OAKLAND — A woman was injured Tuesday morning when the car she was driving crashed into the garage of a home in the Oakland hills after knocking down a light pole, authorities said.

The extent of the driver’s injuries was not known.  No one inside the house was hurt.

The wreck happened about 7 a.m. in the 10000 block of Broadway Terrace.

What caused the driver to crash the Mercedes Benz was being investigated by police.

The Mercedes first hit the pole causing it to be ripped from its base and carried it into the garage of the house. A damage figure for the house and pole was not available.

The resident of the home was in a lower level and did not hear the initial impact.

City public works workers responded to the crash to replace the light pole.

No power lines were involved.
