Leo, the 2-month-old kitten who took an almost deadly turn onto southbound U.S 101 in late July, is ready for a new road that leads to a forever home.

Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, which has been caring for Leo since he was brought in on July 23, says the kitten has been vaccinated and neutered, and is up for adoption now at the group’s Center for Compassion,1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame. Leo’s adoption fee is $120.

Leo is named after the man who saw the tiny kitten attempting to cross the highway during morning rush hour, If not for Leo the human, Leo the kitten might not have made it this far.

When Leo first arrived at the shelter he was not old enough for adoption, says Buffy Martin Tarbox, the rescue’s communications manager. He was placed in the Kitten Nursery where he received specialized care by trained staff and volunteers.

The Kitten Nursery saves the lives of hundreds of motherless and underaged kittens — kittens less than two months old every year — and is funded solely by donations.
