Some nation and world headlines cartoonists weighed in on this week:

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s attempted suspension of Parliament to push ahead on Brexit negotiations and meet a crucial Oct. 31 deadline failed. Lawmakers instead abandoned Johnson’s party, including the grandson of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, removing Johnson’s Conservative Party majority in the chamber.

The death toll from Hurricane Dorian rose to 23 in the Bahamas, according to the New York Times.

President Trump used an edited map to refute the National Weather Service and his own administration’s projection for Dorian’s path, inspiring the hashtag Sharpiegate.

Hong Kong’s leader withdrew an extradition bill that ignited weeks of mass protests, conceding to the protesters. The bill would have allowed fugitives to be extradited to mainland China.

Walmart announced it would stop selling handgun ammunition and ask customers to refrain from openly carrying firearms in its stores following a string of mass shootings over the summer, one of which took place in one of the discounter’s El Paso, Texas stores.
