What do you get when you mix Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, a flamethrower and, just for fun, the brother of late Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar?
While it might sound like an episode of the Netflix show “Narcos” that deservedly didn’t make it out of development, it apparently could be a real trio that no one would have ever thought imaginable.
Roberto Escobar, the brother of Pablo, apparently is considering suing Musk over a flamethrower. Specifically, the Not-A-Flamethrower Flamethrower from Musk’s Boring Company.
(We should state this right now that we are not making any of this up: The matter was first mentioned by TMZ.)
Roberto Escobar runs a company in Colombia called Escobar Inc. As the company says on its website, “Escobar Inc manages and owns all the intellectual property relating to Pablo Escobar, such as copyrights, trademarks and any and all other rights.”
It is also dedicated to “creating and sustaining projects related to the family of Pablo Escobar under the leadership of Roberto De Jesús Escobar Gaviria, brother of Pablo Escobar.” Based on those descriptions, it sounds like Colombia is pretty lax when it comes to confiscating the property of known drug lords, even those who died more than 25 years ago.
One of those things that Escobar Inc. manages — and is selling — is a flamethrower. Right now, you can go to the Escobar Inc. site and get one on sale for just $249 (14.1-ounce propane tank not included).
You might have noticed that the Escobar flamethrower looks pretty similar to the product that Musk’s Boring Company recently put on sale. The Boring Company said it has sold its entire production run of 20,000 Flamethrowers.

According to TMZ, Escobar said Musk stole his flamethrower idea after one of Musk’s engineers visited the Escobar compound in 2017. Escobar reportedly is very angry with Musk and is said to be considering legal action for intellectual property theft of the flamethrower idea.
This news organization has tried to reach Musk as well at officials at Tesla for a comment about the Escobar matter, but neither has replied.
Perhaps Musk decided it’s best just to lay low for a while — or at least until the lawyers sort the whole matter out.
