Jack White is not a fan of cell phones.

The rocker has famously said that he doesn’t even own one, so it shouldn’t be a big surprise that he doesn’t want fans to use them when they go see his band, the Raconteurs, on July 23-24 at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

So — gasp! — fans will have to pay attention to the music instead of texting, posting and taking selfies all night.

Yeah, it’ll be tough.

Here’s the message posted on the venue website in regard to the cell phone policy for the Raconteurs shows:

“PLEASE NOTE: this is a PHONE-FREE show.  No photos, video or audio recording devices allowed. We think you’ll enjoy looking up from your gadgets for a little while and experience music and our shared love of it IN PERSON.  Upon arrival at the venue, all phones and other photo or video-capturing gizmos will be secured in a Yondr pouch that will be unlocked at the end of the show. You keep your pouch-secured phone on you during the show and, if needed, can unlock your phone at any time in a designated Yondr Phone Zone located in the lobby or concourse. Enjoy a phone-free, 100% human experience.”

Not sure how this will all go down but we recommend that patrons budget a little more time to get into the building. The whole Yondr process might go super smoothly, and not cause any backup — but better safe than sorry, right? Arrive a bit earlier than usual and be patient.

White has banned cell phones at his concerts since 2018, according to Billboard.
