How’s this for a dynamic duo? Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson are set to star in a big-screen movie adaption of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular feline musical “Cats.”

Variety reports that the pop music superstars, along with James Corden and Ian McKellen, have agreed to do the film, which will be directed by Oscar-winner Tom Hooper (“The King’s Speech.”)

Jennifer Hudson

Hudson will take on the role of Grizabella, a former “glamor cat” who belts out show-stopping tunes after going through a rough patch. The “American Idol” alum earned an Oscar and Golden Globe in 2007 for her stunning breakout performance in “Dreamgirls.”

Swift’s role has not yet been announced. The Grammy award winner has appeared in films such as “Valentine’s Day” and “The Giver.” “Cats” will be the first musical for Swift, who currently is on the road with her fifth stadium tour, “Reputation,” which runs through November. Swift reportedly auditioned for the film adaptation of “Les Miserables” (also directed by Hooper) but was rebeat out for the role of Eponine by Elizabeth Barks).

The original Cats musical — based on T.S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” — debuted in London in 1981. It follows a tribe of cats named the Jellicles. Filming is reportedly slated to begin this fall.
