The Warriors’ Stephen Curry will not attend a USA Men’s National Team minicamp in Las Vegas next week, according to ESPN.

Curry is skipping the minicamp because he wants to spend time with his infant son, born on July 2, ESPN reported.

Interestingly, Curry spent four days practicing and competing at a celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe last weekend.

Coincidentally, ESPN reported Tuesday that LeBron James will also take a pass on next week’s minicamp, at which national team coach Gregg Popovich will hold his first team meeting. The absences of the two stars will not jeopardize their standing on the squad.

Golden State’s Klay Thompson, Curry’s splash brother, is planning to attend the minicamp as are Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DaMarcus Cousins.

In April, USA Basketball released a list of 35 potential players for the national team. A 12-man squad will eventually be culled from the nearly three dozen candidates to compete at the 2019 World Cup in China and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Curry has helped Team USA win gold at the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships. James helped Team USA win gold in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
