Take a look around. It’s California, of course.
When it comes to the variety of entertainment, recreation and nightlife, the Golden State beat out Florida and even New York in a recent survey by WalletHub.
The personal finance website crunched some serious data to come up with the top 10 funnest states to visit in the country. To determine the states offering the greatest variety and most cost-effective options for enjoyment, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 26 key metrics. The data set ranges from movie costs and ideal weather to accessibility of national parks and casinos per capita.
Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 indicating the greatest number and variety of fun and cost-effective options. Restaurants per capita and beach quality were also determining factors, natch.
We found it almost as interesting to look at which states are the least fun. For instance, which state has the lowest variety of arts and entertainment options? New Jersey. Fewest restaurants per capita? Delaware.
And for some reason, the good people at WalletHub associate fitness centers with fun. California has the most per capita. Who has the least fitness centers per capita? North Dakota.
With that, here are WalletHub.com’s top 10 most fun states:
- California
- Florida
- New York
- Washington
- Colorado
- Nevada
- Minnesota
- Pennsylvania
- Oregon
- Texas
