It’s time to rock ‘n’ roll this fall. Here’s a look at some of the top rock shows coming to the Bay Area:
Bob Seger
Fans don’t mind a bit that he keeps extending his farewell tour. They’ll take any chance they can get to see Seger and his mighty Silver Bullet Band in concert and hear such all-time great songs as “Like a Rock,” “Travelin’ Man,” “Beautiful Loser,” “Night Moves,” “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” “Turn the Page” and – best of all – “Hollywood Nights.”
Still, it’s hard to imagine Seger’s Sept. 26 date at Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View being anything other than his final Bay Area concert.

Metallica with San Francisco Symphony
The top concert to see at Chase Center — the new home of the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco — also happens to be the first one. Fans have been counting down the days until the venue’s opening night show on Sept. 6, featuring the best-selling Bay Area band of all time and the city’s own world-class symphony.
It’s S&M 2, which follows the highly acclaimed collaboration between Metallica and the Symphony that occurred in 1999 at the Berkeley Community Theatre.
A second S&M 2 concert will be held on Sept. 8 at Chase, but tickets for that one were available basically only to fan club members.

Heart
The multiplatinum band, featuring Ann and Nancy Wilson and a catalog filled with such gems as “Crazy on You” and “Magic Man,” visits the Concord Pavilion on Sept. 6.
Heart leads a cool triple bill that also features fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act Joan Jett and The Blackhearts as well as the talented Elle King.

Eric Clapton
One of the most acclaimed guitarists of all time, the one and only Eric Clapton makes an all-too-rare Northern California appearance on Sept. 11 at Chase Center in San Francisco. Fans will savor every single note he plays at this show.
Jimmie Vaughan is also on the bill.

Brian Wilson, Zombies
Wilson will spotlight two terrific, underappreciated Beach Boys albums — “Friends” and “Surf’s Up” — when the Something Great From ’68 Tour reaches the Fox Theater in Oakland on Sept. 13. Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, both former Beach Boys themselves, will join Wilson onstage.
Also on the bill is the Zombies, the recent inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who will be performing 1968’s “Odessey and Oracle” album in its entirety, plus other material.
