There’s no question about the Bay Area’s love of doughnuts. From San Jose to San Rafael, we can’t get enough of sweet fried dough, whether you’ve been going to the same neighborhood mom-and-pop since you were a kid or you’ve been driving over a bridge to get your fix of the latest trendy artisanal treat. But which doughnut shop makes the best?

Three weeks ago, we asked readers to help us choose the region’s top doughnut, bracket-style. And you delivered, nominating 32 outstanding doughnut shops across Northern California. Now readers, after the first cut you’ve narrowed down those 32 to 16 sweet doughnut shops, and the results are dripping with sprinkles and powdered sugar.

Santa Clara favorite Stan’s Donut Shop beat out Oakland’s cronut-famous Donut Savant by 75 percent. World’s Fare Donuts in Hayward bested Alameda’s Hometown Donuts with 60 percent of the votes. And San Jose’s Manley Donuts took the top spot over Dick’s Donuts in Oakland by 67 percent.

You know what time it is. The next round! Scroll through all eight pairs of poll brackets to mark your votes, then hit the “done” button to cast your ballot. This round of voting closes at noon on June 27. Voting for the oh-so-amazing eight begins at 6 a.m. June 28.
