A five-story luxury boutique inn, Napa’s new Archer Hotel offers 183 guest rooms, Charlie Palmer Steak and a Sky & Vine Rooftop bar and restaurant with 365-degree views of the Napa Valley. Yes, it’s all kinds of stunning.
Once inside the lobby, look for the large-scale topographical map — the biggest we’ve ever seen — of the valley’s 16 agricultural viticultural areas. Overhead, a massive chandelier of crystal and wood twists and turns like grapevines. The view of the chandelier is even cooler from the balcony above Charlie Palmer Steak.
Another plus: Archer Napa is within walking distance of music venues, winery tasting rooms, chic eateries and even Oxbow Public Market. But the hotel’s beauty and ultra modern design — neutral tones with gold and natural accents — may just keep you indoors, sipping a locally-grown cabernet and studying that relief map.
Zzz’s: Rooms are spacious, especially the ones with private balconies overlooking First Street. Expect platform king beds, plush Euro Top mattresses, cozy down duvets and a selection of pillows, including hypoallergenic. Decor is chic yet masculine, with cool, creamy tones and glam touches, like Austrian crystal-studded headboards.
Splashes: A sliding bathroom door made of frosted glass opens to chocolate-brown marble tile in the large vanity area and a porcelain-tiled walk-in shower with pebble stone flooring. Loved the His and Hers slippers and the grape-shaped rubber duckies in the tub.
Extras: Enjoy bottled water and handmade salted caramels when you arrive, along with more locally-curated treats at nightly turn-down. Also nice: The in-room Nespresso machine and temperature-controlled wine refrigerator. Perfect for stowing all those bottles you’re going to buy.
Details: Rooms start at $259 per night. 1230 First St., Napa; https://archerhotel.com/napa
