At the Cinnabar Winery tasting room in downtown Saratoga, you can sip on award-winning locally-grown and produced chardonnay while listening to music on the wood deck. The tasting room has become a fixture and landmark of the village for the past decade.

But as many locals know, Cinnabar’s legacy as a South Bay winery dates back much farther, to 1983, when founder Tom Mudd first planted 22 acres of cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay in the Santa Cruz Mountains just above Saratoga.

Now, the winery is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a party from noon to 3 p.m. on July 28 at a private estate in Saratoga. Mingle with Cinnabar Winemaker George Troquato and Cellar Master Alejandro Aldama. Troquato began working at Cinnabar in 1990 and Aldama was first hired by Mudd to work the vineyards at age 18. The Mudd family, including Tom Mudd’s daughter and Cinnabar CEO Karina, will also be attendance.

Tickets are $85 ($75 for members of the Alchemist Wine Society) and will feature paella and other fare plus wine, music, a barrel tasting and raffle. Tickets can be purchased online  or by calling the tasting room at 408-867-1012.
