OAKLAND — Two men were wounded in Oakland shootings Thursday night and Friday morning, police said.

Both are expected to recover and police do not believe the shootings are related.

About 1:39 a.m. Friday a 44-year-old man was shot while he sat in a parked car in the 1400 block of 37th Avenue in the Fruitvale district. He got his own transportation to a hospital. Police don’t have a motive yet for the shooting, and have not made any arrests.

About 3 p.m. Thursday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the 700 block of Beacon Street not far from Lake Merritt.

The man told police he was walking when he was shot in the hand by someone in a passing vehicle. The shooter fled before police were notified and the man got a ride from a relative to a hospital. Police don’t have a motive yet for the shooting, and have not made any arrests.

In another shooting just after 5 p.m. Thursday in the 2900 block of East 19th Street, a man was wounded in the leg as he sat in a car but police later determined it was self-inflicted, authorities said. He was hospitalized in stable condition and could face criminal charges, authorities said.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of suspects in the Beacon Street and 37th Avenue shootings. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
