What are the best new and renovated hotels in the world? Ask a travel editor. Specifically, the editors at Travel + Leisure magazine. Each year, they check into hundreds of hotels around the globe searching for what they call “a winning alchemy of setting, design and service.”
The winners have been published in Travel + Leisure’s just-released 14th annual It List, also available in the magazine’s March issue. Five of the 23 North American hotels on the list are in California, including The Francis House in Calistoga, a historic property where you can relax in the infrared sauna and salt room, and the luxurious NoMad Los Angeles, which features a fully restored gold and blue Italianate ceiling.
How did they select the winners? The editors collaborated with Travel + Leisure’s network of writers, contributors and agents around the world, arriving at these 23 (which include two hotels in Los Cabos and San Miguel de Allende, for your next jaunt in Mexico, btw).
