Jennifer Aniston is set to play the first female president of the United States.

Hollywood’s been there, done that, you might say.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in “Veep,” Robin Wright in “House of Cards” and Bellamy Young in “Scandal” are just a few actresses who’ve taken their turns as our fictional commander-in-chief.  And we can also add Lisa Simpson, Olive Oyl and Betty Boop to the list.

The difference with Aniston’s groundbreaking president is that she’ll have something in common with most of our other presidents — a first lady.

Netflix has just won the rights to “First Ladies,” a comedy in which Aniston  and Tig Notaro will portray Beverly and Kasey Nicholson, the first lesbian first couple.

“First Ladies” is described as a  “political comedy about America’s first female president and her wife, the first lady. When Beverly and Kasey Nicholson move into the White House, they’ll prove that behind every great woman … is another great woman.”

Notaro and her wife, Stephanie Allynne, will write the script. The couple and Aniston will also be among the film’s producers, which also includes Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

Notaro and Aniston both have upcoming projects on Netflix. Notaro’s “Happy to Be Here” debuts on the streaming service on May 22, and Aniston will be co-starring with Adam Sandler in “Murder Mystery.”
