CONCORD — Video of a robbery inside the gift shop of a car wash circulated on social media Friday, and police hope its release will help them gain new clues.

The robbery at the Rain and Shine Car Wash in the 4500 block of Clayton Road happened about 8:10 a.m. Nov. 28, police said.

The investigation revealed much of what the video shows, police said. A woman in a dark hoodie enters the store and pulls what appears to be a butcher knife while demanding money. The man behind the register complied, and the woman cleans out the register.

She then approaches the man with the knife close to his face and demands several times: “Open the safe!”

The woman appears to motion the knife briefly at the cashier’s neck, before dashing out of the store. The cashier follows her after she leaves, pulling out his phone.

According to police, the woman ran from the robbery south across Clayton Road and disappeared. The employee was not injured physically.

Police estimated the woman was 25 to 30 years old, approximately 5-foot-6 and weighing 125 to 130 pounds. She had dark hair and dark eyes, police said, and was wearing a black hoodie and a black shirt with orange San Francisco Giants logos on the front. A black bandana covered her face, and she wore white latex gloves.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Kevin Giacoletto at 925-671-3040 or the anonymous tip line at 925-603-5836.
