OAKLAND — The cause of a single-alarm fire that damaged an in-law shed and several trees behind a North Oakland home is under investigation, authorities said Wednesday.

Shortly after 8 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of flames near 38th Street and Telegraph Avenue in the city’s Mosswood neighborhood.

When firefighters aboard three engines and a truck arrived in the 400 block of 36th Street, they found the shed and trees near a fenced-off homeless encampment between homes’ backyards and walls next to Interstate 580 and managed to extinguish the fire within minutes with help from an extra engine.

A Falck ambulance crew also responded, but there were no reports of injuries to firefighters or residents. At least one person was displaced, but no information about her circumstances or a Red Cross Bay Area response was immediately available late Wednesday.
