Get ready for another hot week of music in and around the San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco areas, thanks to big shows from Shawn Mendes, Queen + Adam Lambert and others. Here are some of the top picks:
Shawn Mendes
The 20-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter has skyrocketed in popularity over the years, thanks to such smash singles as “Treat You Better,” “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” and “In My Blood.”
Mendes, who now ranks as one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, performs two nights, July 13-14, at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Queen + Adam Lambert
The music of Queen never goes out of style. Yet, it certainly got a big boost in popularity with the release of last year’s hugely successful “Bohemian Rhapsody” film.
Of course, there’s no replacing Freddie Mercury. But Adam Lambert does do a nice job on the material. So, check out Queen + Adam Lambert at the SAP Center in San Jose on July 14.

Beck, Cage the Elephant
No disrespect to co-headliner Cage the Elephant — a band that has put out some fine music over the years — but Beck is definitely the main reason to buy a ticket to this show on July 16 at Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View.
That said, however, the chance to also see Cage – plus opening acts Spoon and Starcrawler – does make this an even hotter ticket.
