The 2019 Outside Lands lineup features such big-name acts as Paul Simon, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, Kacey Musgraves, the Lumineers and Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals.

Yet, it also features a number of cool surprises – acts that we really weren’t expecting to see at the 12th annual Outside Lands, which runs Aug. 9-11 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Here are five of the biggest (and best) surprises. For more information, visit www.sfoutsidelands.com.

Lauren Daigle

She might just be the first artist from the contemporary Christian music world to make it onto an Outside Lands lineup. She’s also an incredible singer, whose crossover smash “You Say” was the best single of 2018.

Mavis Staples

The gospel/R&B legend is no stranger to Golden Gate Park. But, usually Staples is playing Hardly Strictly Bluegrass when she visits.

Blink-182

We thought Blink was far more likely to make a Bay Area appearance at Vans Warped Tour than Outside Lands. But fans will love seeing them goof around in Golden Gate Park.

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians

We never thought we’d be singing along to “What I Am” at this year’s festival.

Lil Wayne

We were expecting a few marquee hip-hop names, but didn’t expect that one of them would be Lil Wayne, who ranks among the greatest rappers to ever pick up hold a microphone.

Here is the full lineup:
