Village keeps time

A crane arrived Aug. 25 to install a two-sided town clock in a flower bed next to the gas at the entrance to the Saratoga Village.

The Saratoga Village Development Council raised $31,500 in donations to purchase and install the clock.

A plaque at the base of the clock will list those who donated $2,500 or more, including the Sereno Group, $5,000; Star One Credit Union, Jack and Holly Hillis and Amy and Alan Chen, all of whom donated $3,000; and the Saratoga-Los Gatos Community Foundation, Yves and Annette Casabonne, Howard and Sandy Miller, Jill and Dennis Hunter the Breitenbach family and the Coulter family, all of whom donated $2,500.

Green Bean Kidz classes

Preschoolers and their parents who are looking to get back to nature this fall can avail themselves of Green Bean Kidz classes through Los Gatos Saratoga Recreation.

The classes include age-appropriate hikes and early science education. Also included are flora and fauna identification, and stories about the land and creatures who live in it. Children ages 2-6 can explore many different ecosystems in local parks and open spaces, meeting once a week on Wednesday or Thursday for six weeks beginning Sept. 9-10.
