Family and friends of Agustin “Augie” Gonsalez, who was shot and killed by Hayward police in November, hold a vigil in his memory and to demonstrate that they believe the shooting was not justified in front of Hayward City Hall in Hayward, Calif., on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019. The 29-year-old father of two, of Lathrop, was visiting his former girlfriend about 9 p.m. Nov. 15 in the 24600 block of O’Neil Avenue when police said a witness reported he was brandishing a knife and acting erratically. Two officers who responded fired a total of 13 shots, hitting him multiple times, police said. Gonsalez was carrying a razor blade rather than a knife as was initially reported in the 911 call, police said.
