Gilroy celebrates Independence Day with its annual Fourth of July fireworks display. Beginning at dusk fireworks will launch into the sky from Gilroy High School.

As towns around the Bay Area issued cancellation notices for their Fourth of July celebrations, the city of Gilroy plans to shoot its fireworks higher to make them visible to more people and to encourage social distancing.

According to the city, residents with a clear sightline will be able to see the fireworks from 2.5 miles away. Officials are asking people to watch from their homes and to wear face coverings if applicable.

For more info about the fireworks display head to Gilroy’s website.
