First years

“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”

  • 1. Who told Harry that he was a wizard? Hagrid
  • 2. Where did Harry and Ron first meet Hermione? On the train to Hogwarts
  • 3. Who did Harry meet at Diagon Ally that he took a strong disliking to? Draco Malfoy
  • 4. Who guards the door to Gryffindor tower? The Fat Lady
  • 5. What were the obstacles set in place to guard the Sorcerer’s stone at Hogwarts? Fluffy the three-headed dog, Devil’s snare, charmed keys, a giant chess board, a potion logic puzzle and the Mirror of Erised

  • 12. What did Professor Trelawney see when she looked at Harry’s tea leaves? The Grim, a supposed harbinger of death.
  • 13. Third years were allowed a special treat for the first time. What was it, and why couldn’t Harry participate? On certain weekends, third years and above were allowed to visit Hogsmeade, Britain’s only all-magical community, located near Hogwarts. Harry didn’t have a signed permission slip from the Dursleys, although he found a way around that.
  • 14. How was Hermione able to take so many classes this year? She had approval to use a time turner, allowing her to turn back time.
  • 15. Hagrid became the Care of Magical Creatures teacher this year. What magical animal did he introduce his students to in his very first class? A hippogriff

  • 19. Name two of the three things Wormtail had to collect in order to return Lord Voldemort to his physical form. Bone from Voldemort’s father, flesh from his servant (Wormtail’s own hand), and blood from his enemy (Harry)
  • 20. Where did Professor Moody spend the majority of the Hogwart’s school year? Concealed at the bottom of his own magical trunk

Fifth years

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”

  • 21. What was Harry’s main reason for writing to Sirius just before the start of school? Troubled by dreams and annoying pains in his scar, he wanted to ask his godfather if it was something to be concerned about.
  • 22. What was remarkable about the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix that helped protect it from muggles and Death Eaters? It was unplottable, and only Dumbledore, the secret keeper for the Order, could reveal its location.
