There’s a lot going on this week in the Bay Area – especially at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Here are my top concert picks:
Gloria Trevi
Known for such popular offerings as “Cómo Nace el Universo” and “Una Rosa Blu,” this Latin pop superstar has sold more than 5 million albums during a career that stretches back to the ‘80s.
Trevi performs Nov. 8 at the SAP Center at San Jose. Karol G is also on the bill.

Richard Thompson
Catch one of the best guitarists on the planet on Nov. 7 at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
Thompson is also a wonderful singer-songwriter, responsible for such gems as “Don’t Sit On My Jimmy Shands,” “Shoot Out the Lights” and, best of all, “1952 Vincent Black Lightning.”
Eliza Gilkyson opens the show.

Melanie Martinez
The electropop artist behind such popular tunes as “Sippy Cup,” “Mrs. Potato Head,” “Cry Baby,” “Dollhouse” and “Pity Party,” supports the sophomore offering “K-12” at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Nov. 13.
Lauren Ruth Ward opens the show.

Peter Hook and the Light
Hook was a member of the genius post-punk outfit Joy Division — aka, one of the greatest bands ever — as well as the hugely influential synth-pop group New Order.
Hook will be performing from the catalog of both those acts when he leads the Light into the Fillmore in San Francisco on Nov. 8.

Tom Morello
The mighty guitarist — who will surely one day be enshrined as a member of Rage Against the Machine in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — performs Nov. 12 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The show comes on the heels of Rage Against the Machine announcing it will reunite to perform a handful of shows in spring, 2020.
Also on the bill is 93PUNX featuring Vic Mensa.
