Trey Anastasio is one of the best electric guitarists in rock ‘n’ roll.
Phish “phans” have been enjoying his talents for decades, as he’s delivered one face-melting lead after another on such powerful jam-rock numbers as “David Bowie,” “You Enjoy Myself,” “Chalk Dust Torture,” “Free” and “Divided Sky.”
Yet, the Phish vocalist-guitarist will be showcasing a different artistic side when he performs an acoustic solo show on Dec. 8 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland.
What will make the set list? That’s an incredibly good question. Our best guess is that it will be a mix of solo material, Phish stuff and covers. But, again, that’s just our best guess.
When it comes to Anastasio, however, pretty much anything is fair game. He could just play the entire “White Album” by the Beatles (as Phish did during a Halloween 1994 concert in Glen Falls, New York ) or all of the Velvet Underground’s “Loaded” (which Phish did on Halloween 1998 in the Las Vegas area).
But unpredictability is part of the fun when it comes to the Phish world.
So come on out to the Paramont and check out Anastasio as he unplugs for the evening.
It should be a good way for phans to pass the time as they wait for more Phish tour dates to be announced for 2019.
