MARTINEZ — A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in connection with a hit-and-run in Crockett that killed a bicyclist, police said.

Kylie Derksen, of Martinez, was arrested on a $100,000 warrant, following a crash Tuesday evening in the 2000 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police say her arrest followed an anonymous phone tip that implicated her.

Christopher Rey Bunag, 42, of Hercules, was killed in the crash. Police say he was riding his bicycle when a car struck him around 7:20 p.m.

The vehicle that hit Bunag was originally thought to be a blue truck, but police now say it was a red Mini Cooper. A California Highway Patrol news release says Derksen’s arrested was based on evidence “collected at the scene, witness statements, surveillance video.”

Derksen remains in Contra Costa County jail, but has not yet been charged with a crime. It was not immediately known when county prosecutors plan to review the case.
