Wine-country lifestyle and recipes come together in Michele Mandro’s new “Wine Country Women of Napa Valley” (Cameron+Company, $55), a glossy book whose arrival comes just as that region is reeling from the recent wildfires. You’ll feel a twinge as you page through this lovely volume, which profiles more than 60 of Napa’s most prominent women, from Violet Grgich of Grgich Hills Estate to Carissa Mondavi of Contiuum Estate, knowing that many have been directly impacted by recent events.

The glossy photographs hail from Napa Valley photographer Dona Kopol Bonick. And each woman, from Gina Gallo (Ernest and Julio Gallo Winery) to Hilary Newsom (PlumpJack Group), has shared recipes and wine-pairings for dishes such as Zinfandel Cioppino, Truffle Short Ribs With Pappardelle and Exotic Mushrooms and Meyer Lemon Meringue Pie.

Now Mandro’s Wine Country Women LLC is working on wildfire relief efforts to support the Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch, which helped evacuate and care for animals during and after the Napa and Sonoma fires. A portion of the proceeds from books purchased via winecountrywomen.com will go to the animal rescue foundation.

Meanwhile, you can meet Mandro and some of these wine-country-women at book events at San Francisco’s Omnivore Books at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30, and at Corte Madera’s Book Passage at 1 p.m. Nov. 4.
