“Bachelor in Paradise” (8 p.m., ABC): The fun begins when a cast-off contestant from Rachel’s season of “The Bachelorette” washes up with a date card burning a hole in his pocket. Except for one hot and heavy couple, many of the girls are excited to see him, making the some of the guys jealous. Later, one frustrated female, who doesn’t know where she stands with her man, makes it clear she would love to go on a date with the newcomer.

“CNN Town Hall With Paul Ryan” (9 p.m., CNN): This could get feisty. House Speaker Paul Ryan will take questions from constituents living in his southeast Wisconsin congressional district. Anchor Jake Tapper will moderate the live event from Racine, Wisconsin, as Ryan prepares to return to Capitol Hill to address looming deadlines on the 2018 federal budget and the need to address the debt ceiling.

“NOVA: Eclipse Over America” (9 p.m., PBS): People are gaga for the first total solar eclipse to traverse the U.S. in nearly a century. This special episode includes a look at the history of eclipse science and current research into the solar corona. Also featured: footage of the day’s big event shot along the path of totality. 9 p.m., PBS.

“CBSN: On Assignment” (10 p.m., CBS): Correspondent Reena Ninan goes to the front line of cyber warfare – the nation’s hospitals. She investigates the growing number of cyberattacks on hospitals around the country, where, if successful, hackers can hold hostage some of America’s most vulnerable residents Also included: A segment on the life-and-death job of journalists in Mexico as they report on drug gang wars, and how beautiful islands are being lost because of climate change.

“The Good Karma Hospital” (Acorn): Set in a colorful coastal town in southern India, this humorous and poignant British medical drama tells the story of junior doctor Ruby Walker (Amrita Acharia), who arrives in India looking for a job and a distraction from her heartbreak, but instead finds the realities of work, life and even love at an under-resourced and over-worked cottage hospital. The cast also includes Amanda Redman, Neil Morrissey, Philip Jackson, and, in her first role after playing Mrs. Hughes on “Downton Abbey,” Phyllis Logan.
