MARTINEZ — County prosecutors filed two murder charges Wednesday against a woman who allegedly stabbed her parents to death and then tried to stage the crime scene to deflect suspicion.

Menique Lashon, 50, faces two murder charges with knife enhancements. They carry a special allegation for having multiple victims, which would make Lashon eligible for a sentence of life without parole if she’s convicted.

The coroner identified Menique Lashon’s deceased parents as Harvey Lashon, 73, and Sharon Lashon, 67. Police say they all lived together in Pittsburg on the 4200 block of Diehl Way.

Around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Menique Lashon reportedly called police to the home and said her parents were dead. Responding officers determined the couple had been dead for several days.

Police say Lashon later confessed, and that it appeared she had tried to stage the scene to make it look like the deaths were the result of her parents fighting. Authorities have released few other details of the incident.

Lashon remains in custody, and is being held without bail, according to jail records.
