SAN JOSE — One person was detained and other suspects are being sought after they rammed a police cruiser with a stolen car Friday afternoon, according to San Jose police.

A two-officer patrol unit was traveling near Barberry and Dina Lanes, west of King Road near the Highway 101 sound wall when around 12:42 p.m. they identified a stolen car parked in the area.

Police said the officers decided to monitor the vehicle until someone got into it, and soon after they watched a group of people get in. As soon as that happened, the officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but instead of stopping, police say the car was put into reverse and rammed the officers’ marked vehicle.

The occupants of the car ran off, but the officers detained at least one person, police said.

The officers were not injured, police said. The patrol vehicle sustained moderate damage.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 911, and tips can be left with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP or at svcrimestoppers.org.
