SACRAMENTO — Governor Jerry Brown appointed 34 superior court judges to the bench in California, including one from Alameda County.

Barbara A. Dickinson, 56, of Oakland, was appointed in the Alameda County Superior Court. Since 2013, she served as an assistant public defender through the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office. Before that, she was a deputy public defender from 1989 to 2013.

Judge Barbara Dickinson was appointed to the Alameda County Superior Court by the governor. 

Dickinson, a Democrat, has a law degree from the UC-Hastings College of the Law, and a bachelor of arts degree from George Washington University.

She is filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Larry G. Goodman.

Each judge appointed will be paid $200,042 for the position.
