SUNNYVALE — Demonte Aleem rushed for three touchdowns and Michael Johnson Jr. threw for three touchdowns as The King’s Academy handed Half Moon Bay its first loss with a 49-35 victory Friday night.

Half Moon Bay was coming off a miraculous win a week earlier against Sequoia when the Cougars drove for a touchdown after falling five points behind with a half minute left.

There would be no encore Friday.

TKA (6-2, 2-2) scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 35-21 lead into the locker room.

Half Moon Bay pulled within 35-29 after three quarters but could not keep its unbeaten record intact as the Cougars (7-1, 3-1) fell into a first-place tie with Menlo School in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Ocean Division with one game to go.

TKA and Sequoia are a game back.

HMB, which beat Menlo last month, plays host to South San Francisco next week. Menlo visits Woodside.

Friday, Aleem carried 12 times for 188 yards and Johnson completed 13 of 22 passes for 169 yards.
