PALO ALTO — About 20 people were displaced by a two-alarm fire Tuesday night at the Glass Slipper Inn on El Camino Real.
The blaze broke out around 8:50 p.m. in a second-floor room of the motel at 3941 El Camino Real, said Deputy Fire Chief Catherine Capriles of the Palo Alto Fire Department.
A second-alarm was called about 10 minutes later.
Capriles said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The flames scorched the room and spread into the attic, but the rest of the iconic motel was spared.
No injuries were reported, but about 20 people were displaced as a result of firefighters cutting power to the building. The American Red Cross was summoned to provide assistance, Capriles said.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
