SAN JOSE — A man was reportedly slashed with a knife while playing “Pokémon Go” last week in downtown San Jose.

ABC7 News, this newspaper’s media partner, said the attack happened near W. San Carlos and S. Second streets.

Chris Perguidi told the station he was playing the wildly popular mobile game when a woman yelled at him and a man jumped on his back. They accused of him recording them and tried to take his backpack.

The man then slashed Perguidi’s chin with a knife, grabbed him by the back of the head, and punched him in the chest and back, according to ABC7 News.

Perguidi told the station he believed he was targeted because he wasn’t paying attention.

“I shouldn’t have to be paying attention to everything all the time,” he said. “That shouldn’t be the world we live in.”

No suspects have been arrested, according to police.
